Whether you got away to the beach house this past summer long weekend, or just stayed in to watch the Olympic qualifiers, there certainly wasn’t a lack of exciting events to keep you busy! Taking full advantage of that extra day off, this Wallpap’ress headed over to Chicago for the weekend to take in the sites and sounds. I was one in 200,000 people who made the trip, as Chicago was taken over by music, fashion, and food lovers alike. This year marked the 20th anniversary of Chicago’s famed Lollapalooza, started by Perry Farrell of Jane’s Addiction back in 1991. Lollapalooza is a three day music festival housed in Grant Park spanning over 150 acres, with 9 stages and activities galore. Although I went for the festival, I couldn’t help but take in all that Chicago had to offer!

Chicago is a city rich with history, art and architecture. In 1871, a raging fire that lasted for 2 days and burned most of Chicago to the ground devastated the city. Once the fire subsided the city set out to rebuild, an exert from the Chicago Tribune Editorial read “Cheer Up. In the midst of a calamity without parallel in the world’s history, looking upon the ashes of thirty years’ accumulations, the people of this once beautiful city have resolved that Chicago Shall Rise Again”. It certainly did, with a visually stunning city scape emerging from lake Michigan Chicago has it all.

Home base for the weekend was the Acme Hotel Company in Chicago. This little boutique hotel, is truly the city’s hidden gem. The detail and design alone make it that extra special find for someone with a keen eye and appreciation for all the those perfectly executed details. Everyday I spotted something new that I loved and would recreate in my own home to give it that chic and hip edge! Enjoy.

As you walk down Ohio, the Acme Hotel “Vacancy” sign gleams through the window

Once you check in hop into what I would like to call the Record Breaking Elevator, adorn with classic and new records such as Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers, MGMT, and Florence and the Machine

Hotel room doors feature a chalk board, perfect for that early morning sleep in with a Do Not Disturb note, or let everyone know where to follow you with your twitter handle! Wallpap’ress @blmtn

You can find your chalk stored in this neat piece of hardware right inside your door!

Bathroom Mirror is illuminated with a red glowing kiss! Wallpap’ress tip, don’t break the budget to get this custom look in your home. Use one of our Snap Wall Art decal kits and slap it right on the mirror!

Ultra cool wall decal lets you unzip your wall to reveal whatever you want underneath! Such a great little extra by your breakfast nook!

This graphic hand print made me want to give a high five! Great and inexpensive way to add some rocker chic to your bedroom!

Bedside treats! Love all the extra little details
